The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, Babili Mansa has donated 6361 bags of sugar to Gambians.

The sugar distribution is an annual activity by the President during Ramadan.

The Vice President and Minister of Women’s Affairs, Her Excellency Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy presided over the distribution on behalf of the President at State House in Banjul.

Speaking at the occasion, the Vice President hailed President Jammeh’s dedication in the propagation of Islam, and for being compassionate to the poor. She urged the people to emulate the Gambian leader’s generosity.

An advocate of gender equality herself, the Vice President used the opportunity to hail President Jammeh for always championing the cause of women, indicating their thanks to him.

“He always gives out sugar, takes people to Mecca and he gives out food to the mosques, he built mosques all over the places, he propagates Islam, this is what he is doing and he has been doing things more than this over the years, so all we have to do as Gambians is to listen to what the President says; he said we have to fear God and have Tawheed all the time,” the VP said.

She also paid tribute to President Jammeh for safeguarding the country’s peace and stability as well as his determination in protecting the integrity of The Gambia as a nation.

Fatou Lamin Faye appointed Minister of Higher Education, Research, science and Technology

A press release from the Office of the President announced that the President has assigned Ms. Fatou Lamin Faye as Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology under the purview of the Office of the President, with immediate effect.

The release reads:

His Excellency the President of the Republic of The Gambia Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A.J.J. Jammeh Babili Mansa acting under the provisions of section 71(4)(b) of the Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, has decided to relieve Dr. Aboubacar Senghore of his appointment as Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology with effect from 27th June 2016.

In this same vein, His Excellency the President acting under the provision of sections 71(1) and 71(3) has assigned Ms. Fatou Lamin Faye as Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology under the purview of the Office of the President, with immediate effect

Former Gambian international goalkeeper Ba Dembo Touray after retiring from active football turns to an agent.

During his time with the Stockholm club, the goalkeeper played more than 200 games and won two national championship titles, two Swedish cups and one Superettan title. But in February 2012, he moved to Santos in South Africa, where he played until the summer of 2015.

The former Real de Banjul keeper last year returned “home” to Stockholm, where his family still lives, and is now a goalkeeper coach for Swedish division three side IFK Lidingo. But for some time, he has also taken the leap into the business of football agency. He is part of the Global Football Consulting, an agency run by Andreas Kouvatsis and former Gambia international Njogu Demba-Nyren that’s it from me Alhagie Fatty Good Bye.
